A Special Place to Ride Amazing Horses for Healing!
Amazing Wings Therapeutic Riding Center is a special place where people of all ages benefit physically, cognitively and emotionally from a wide variety of horse experiences designed to meet their needs by a trained team of certified instructors, dedicated volunteers and amazing horses. Enjoy the video below.
Amazing Wings opened in January of 2008 in Goodrich, Michigan. We are located on Hawk Nest Ranch, which provides access to 72 acres of woodland trails skirting the banks of Lake Shinanguag, and a large outdoor arena. Our renovated barn houses a climate-controlled arena and observation room. We operate year-round, offering sessions by appointment on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
Our team of wonderful horses are gentle and specially trained to provide the partnership and support our riders need. Amazing Wings employs natural horsemanship methods in handling and interacting with our equine partners.
The many benefits of therapeutic riding have been medically documented. Because horseback riding gently and rhythmically moves the rider’s body in a manner similar to a human gait, three-dimensionally, riders with physical disabilities often show improvement in flexibility, balance and muscle strength. Individuals with emotional or mental special needs have found that the unique relationship formed between a horse and rider can lead to increased confidence, patience and self-esteem.
We are proud to be a Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH) Member Center. PATH is a nationally known organization that promotes safe, professional, ethical and therapeutic equine activities through education, communication, standards and research for people with and without disabilities. Our instructors are specially trained and certified through PATH.
Visitors are always welcome, but please call ahead.
"I believe we get in direct proportion to what we give; however, I found this not to be true when I contributed to Amazing Wings. I received significantly more than I gave. Thank you for the experience."
